First Post!

 Hello,

My name is Gracie, I’m an 18 year old Florida state student from Sanibel Island Florida. I’m and  education major and wish to teach either United States history in a high school, or be an elementary school teacher. A couple things about me, I’m a faithful follower of Christ, I have two siblings, and two dogs, which makes up my family of 7 who are the most important thing to me. I love going to the beach and watching sunset, I have played volleyball since I was little, and still continue to play beach volleyball for the club team at FSU. I am also a proud sister of the Alpha Sigma chapter of Delta Zeta. 

Prior to this class I have used educational technology for a while. My high school was one of the few Apple Certified schools in the world; meaning we were given iPads, access to IMacs as well as Macbooks to complete our school work. We used apps such as Notability, Canvas, Keynote, Google docs, Canva, and many other apps to create projects and complete assignments. I think having this background knowledge and experience with Educational Technology will be really helpful in this class and in my future. 

We all learn differently and what satisfies my learning abilities might not satisfy yours, personally I still continue to use my MacBook and IPad to complete my assignments today. I use apps such as Word to take notes, PowerPoint to create aesthetically pleasing projects, and canvas obviously for my classes. As much as I love technology though, I do find it nice to take notes with a pen and paper some days, as I feel I retain the information better when I actually write it out. So depending on the class you may catch me with a notebook and a pencil!

      For my standards I chose 4th grade which is one of the grades I would be interested in teaching in the future. For my standard I chose LAFS.4.RI.3.7 which asks the students be able to interpret graphs or other  visual or auditorial elements and explain how it connects and contributes to the surrounding text. The technology used includes Prezi which is a presentation app, and make a graph which is an online graph maker, as well as PBS kids. Based off my current technology skill levels I feel I could successfully implement this is a classroom setting. Journal 8

 I really thoroughly enjoyed making my website. I thought it was fun and could be very helpful for my future teaching career. I will definitely have a website to keep the parents and family members of my students up to date with what we're doing in the classroom. I had to create a website for my English class but we used Wix instead, so I was familiar with website building this was just a different platform for me to use. I thought this assignment was practical and lots of fun.  https://missgerlach.weebly.com Diigo is a really cool collaborative app. I had never used this site before so the whole thing was extremely new and confusing to me. I'm still unsure if I'm in. the right class because sometimes our class shows up and sometimes it doesn't.
