JOURNAL 4
For my standards I chose 4th grade which is one of the grades I would be interested in teaching in the future. For my standard I chose LAFS.4.RI.3.7 which asks the students be able to interpret graphs or other visual or auditorial elements and explain how it connects and contributes to the surrounding text. The technology used includes Prezi which is a presentation app, and make a graph which is an online graph maker, as well as PBS kids. Based off my current technology skill levels I feel I could successfully implement this is a classroom setting. Im familiar with all of these websites and could teach kids how to navigate and use them efficiently and successfully.
For my CPALMS resource I chose second grade resources because that is the other grade I'm interested in teaching. For my subject area I chose history because its my favorite subject! The resource I then chose was Choosing a Host For the Olympic Games. Which allows students to choose a location for the nest summer Olympic Games in 2024 based on a few locations. Then they have to explain their choice and get to submit their explanation and choice to the Olympic Committee. I would use this in my classroom because I think it would be a fun unique learning experience, all at the same time enhancing their technology and writing capabilities.
Internet searching is something I do everyday multiple times a day, whether I'm looking for the closest target, or wanting to learn how to do something, I'm constantly googling. Going forward I will definitely use the advanced search feature google has to offer, I think being able to exclude words and google still knowing what you're trying to look up is amazing. Its also extremely efficient which will be useful as a teacher if a child has a question or I'm using google to show my class something. I need to be able to efficient and successful as a google search user.
Hi Gracie! I like that you chose a standard that involves several different forms of technology. I remember using Prezi as a kid and really enjoying it! I also chose second grade for the CPALMS resource. The tool you chose sounds really interesting and relevant to current events! I chose the art category because it is my favorite subject! I will also be implementing the "advanced search" feature into my future research endeavors!
